2013-14 OCCAC Softball News
Colorado Springs, Colo.---The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named 18 student-athletes from the OCCAC as NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Award winners and honored several teams for their overall academic achievement.
The OCCAC has announced their 2013-14 All-Academic team. Below is a sport by sport listing of all student-athletes who earned at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA with at least 24 credit hours.
The OCCAC has announced their 2014 postseason softball awards. They are as follows:
Taylor Huebner, Carlos Pena, Brittany George and Lesley Ducat have earned this week's OCCAC player and pitcher of the week honors in baseball and softball.
Andrew Holderman, Carlos Pena and Brittany George have earned this week's OCCAC player and pitcher of the week honors in baseball and softball.
Alex Young, Tyler Huth, Tori Weidinger and Lesley Ducat have earned this week's OCCAC player and pitcher of the week honors in baseball and softball.
The OCCAC has awarded Mitch Roman, Lesley Ducat, Aubrey Szalay and Kyle Bennett with player and pitcher of the week honors in baseball and softball.

The OCCAC has voted Katie Sturgis of Sinclair and Chantel Smithberger of Lakeland as the OCCAC pitcher and player of the week, respectively.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Lakeland Community College softball team began the 2014 campaign on the right note with a two-game sweep of visiting Butler County Community College at Cleveland State University’s Krenzler Field Thursday afternoon. The wins mark the first two for head coach Jeff Morganti, who took over at the helm in the fall and will look to guide the Lakers back to the District H Tournament in May.
The OCCAC has voted upon their player and pitcher of the week winners in baseball and softball.
Kirtland, OH---The Lakeland Community College athletic department has announced the hiring of Jeff Morganti to the position of head softball coach. Morganti brings with him a wealth of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate level. He has coached softball for the past ten years and spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at nearby Lake Erie College.
Newport, MI---Emily Morrow, a RHP/OF from Monroe Jefferson High School, has signed a letter of intent to become the newest member of the 2013-14 Express softball freshmen class.
New London, OH---Josie Hall, a 5'10" senior from New London High School, has signed with the Express softball team.
Toledo, OH---Whitmer High School senior Tori Weidinger has signed a letter of intent to play softball for the Express next season.
