Second half offensive surge leads Cincinnati State women's soccer to first win of 2013
St. Catharine, KY – The Cincinnati State women’s soccer team opened the 2013 season with a 5-0 road win over St. Catharine College on Saturday night.

St. Catharine, KY – The Cincinnati State women's soccer team opened the 2013 season with a 5-0 road win over St. Catharine College on Saturday night.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Surge attack put up five goals in the final 30 minutes. Freshman Brittani Abner tallied the first two Surge goals in the 60th and 68th minute of assists from Danielle Galbraith and Julie Martin. Freshman Deandre Criddell scored an unassisted goal in the 70th. Galbraith scored a goal of her own in the 77th minute and Jacqueline Cain scored the fifth and final goal of the night in the 83rd.
Goalkeeper Kelsie Lee turned away all 4 shots she faced as the defensive unit preserved the shutout.
"We started off the season right," Head Coach Wil Cagle said. "We suffered a few bumps and bruises in tonight's game but hopefully we can benefit from a break until our next game on September 7th."
The team will travel to play regional foe Kellogg Community College on Sept 7 at 1 pm.
