Martin, Klueh Capture OCCAC Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

Jacob Martin of Owens Community College and Austin Klueh of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College have earned this week's OCCAC men's soccer player awards.

The awards are for the week ending Sept. 15.

Martin was named the OCCAC offensive player of the week after scoring three goals and adding two assists in three victories last week for the Express. He had two-game winning goals (one in OT) and one game-tying assist.

In a 4-0 win over Lakeland Community College, Martin produced an assist. In a 2-1 win over Morton College (IL), he scored both of his team's goals, including the game winner in OT. Then, he scored the game winning goal in a 3-1 win over Ancilla College, while also adding an assist.

Martin, a sophomore midfielder, has six goals and three assists this year. He has three game-winning goals to his credit, and he is tied for second in the OCCAC in goals scored. He is also tied for sixth in assists.

The Express are 7-1 overall this year and 1-0 in OCCAC play. They will take on Cuyahoga Community College on the road on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, Klueh was named the OCCAC defensive player of the week. The sophomore defender had eight tackles to lead the Surge to a 3-0 win over Schoolcraft College in his team's lone game of the week.

Klueh has one goal and three assists this year.

The Surge are 6-0-1 overall and 2-0 in the OCCAC. They are scheduled host Muskegon Community College on Saturday before hosting Lake Michigan College on Sunday.
