Kirtland, OH---Visiting Cincinnati State scored twice in the first half and kept the Lakers off the board en route to a 2-0 win in Lakeland's final home game of the 2012 season. LCC drops to 7-10 overall and 4-9 in Region XII play with one match left in the regular season. The Lakers are currently tied with Ancilla College with 12 points in the region, but trail in goal differential for the sixth and final spot in the Regional tournament.
Prior to the game head coach Djuro Peric was recognized for earning his 250th career win in Lakeland's most recent home game – a 6-1 victory over Mount Union JV on October 3.
Lakeland, donning pink socks as a part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, put five shots on goal but was denied each time by Surge goalkeeper Ryan Strunk. Sophomore Abdel Rodriguez (Las Vegas, Nev.) kept the hosts close by making five saves on the afternoon.
The Lakers will travel to nationally-ranked Owens Community College on Wednesday (Oct. 17) in their final regular season contest.
