Columbus, OH---The Owens Community College golf team shot a 308 to capture first place in the Columbus State Invitational at the Bent Tree Golf Club on Sunday.
It marks the third consecutive OCCAC tournament championship to open the season for Owens.
Ash Alstadt of Columbus State led all individual scorers with a 73, while Brandon Hoelzer and Timothy Dawkins of Owens each shot 76 to tie for 2nd place.
Matt Nickoson and Austin Kyle of Cincinnati State each shot a 77 to tie for fourth place, while Blaze Hogan and Luke Berger of Owens each shot a 78 to tie for sixth place.
Following the 308 shot by Owens, Columbus State shot a 319 for second place, while Cincinnati State (327), Lakeland (338) and Lorain County (355) rounded out the field's scoring.
Notes
Through three tournaments, the Express have 15 points with their three first place finishes, while Columbus State is close behind with 12 points on three second place finishes. Lakeland is in third place with eight points, while Cincinnati State has seven and Lorain County has three.
Hoelzer sits in first place in the OCCAC individual standings with a 73.33 average through the three tournaments, while Alstadt's 73.67 has him in second place. Rounding out the top five are: Blaze Hogan, Owens (74.67, 3rd), Darren Gessner, Owens (75, 4th), Luke Berger, Owens (75.33, T-5th) and Timothy Dawkins, Owens (75.33, T-5th).
The next OCCAC action will be April 28 with the Lorain County Invitational and April 29 with the Lakeland Invitational.
