Summer has kicked off and final grades are in for the spring semester. A plethora of student-athletes hit the books and have earned OCCAC All-Academic recognition.
Cuyahoga Community College Athletics is the 2023-24 recipient of the Ohio Community College Athletics Conference (OCCAC) All-Sports Award.
Twenty-four baseball student-athletes earned recognition from the league’s coaches, picking up All-OCCAC honors for the 2024 season.
Allison Davis (Edison State), Stephen Osowski (Lakeland), Carissa Wheeler (Hocking) and Kale Wilkins (Owens) outlasted a large submission of nominations to ascend as the OCCAC’s weekly award winners for April 22-28, 2024.
The OCCAC Softball and Baseball Player of the Week awards for April 15-21 went to Reagan Hayes (Lakeland) and Evan Jarvis (Bryant & Stratton), joined by Cuyahoga’s Mikayla Rash and Jackson Judy as the OCCAC Pitchers of the Week.
All three OCCAC weekly awards presented for April 8-14 are headed to Cuyahoga Community College as the Triceratops swept the honors. Maddison Collins (pitcher of the week) and Kerrigan Williams (player of the week) are the softball recipients while Kyle Koehler earned baseball’s player of the week laurels.
Cuyahoga’s Kyle Koehler and Mikayla Rash both snagged OCCAC weekly recognition for April 1-7, and were joined by Katie Hoffa (Hocking) and Jackson Smith (Lakeland).
Bryant & Stratton (OH) Baseball is off to a 7-1 start in league play and swept the OCCAC’s weekly honors for March 25-21 while Edison State’s Allison Davis defended her title as the conference’s softball Pitcher of the Week and Abbie Gayner of Cuyahoga earned Player of the Week recognition.
The OCCAC Pitchers of the Week for softball and baseball were joined by a pair of catchers as the Players of the Week for March 18-24.
Mason Johnson (Terra State) cracked a half dozen extra-base hits, including two homeruns, to slug 1.235 in eight games for the Titans. Noah Curi (Clark State) and Ayden Vollmer (Edison State) each tossed complete game shutouts.
The Hocking tandem of Katie Hoffa and Alexia Spangler are joined by Clark State’s Jackson Duncan as the OCCAC’s Player/Pitcher of the Week for baseball and softball (March 4-10).
Four different schools are represented in the OCCAC weekly honors for Feb. 26-March 3.
Two OCCAC baseball programs started their 2024 campaigns, each picking up an individual weekly honor from the conference office. Owens’ Cullen McFarland is the OCCAC Player of the Week for Feb. 12-18 while Jaren Slusher of Cuyahoga is the OCCAC Pitcher of the Week.
Final grades are now official across the conference and below is a list of the OCCAC’s Academic All-Conference honorees for the fall semester.
