Matt Sullivan signs with Youngstown State University!
At six feet four inches, Matt Sullivan was a big piece of the Pride offense in 2012, batting .317 with 12 doubles scoring 30 runs and amassed 27 RBIs. As versatile as he is tall, he played SS/3B/1B/OF/P. Sullivan was the MVP for the Sinclair vs. University of Northern Ohio game which took place at Fifth-Third Field, the home of the Dayton Dragons this past spring. At Youngstown State, he will be playing alongside former Sinclair 3B/OF and 2011 All-American Marcus Heath and under the tutelage of head coach Steve Gillispie. In a questionnaire, Sullivan stated that the reason he chose Youngstown State University as his next stop in his college baseball career was that received a strong offer and he really liked the direction their baseball program was heading as well as the academics that YSU has to offer. Sullivan is also looking forward to playing alongside Marcus Heath, as he toured Sullivan through the school during a recruiting visit. Sullivan says he will miss being at Sinclair as well as the people and affordable classes it provides. He states he will also miss playing baseball for Steve Dintaman as well as his teammates and ordering southwestern chicken finger wraps from the Sinclair Cafeteria.
Matt Kruzel signs with Wright State University!
Early in his freshman year, lefty Matt Kruzel dominated as a relief pitcher for the Tartan Pride. Later in the 2012 season he also spot started when needed, and was also very successful. Kruzel went 8-1 with a 2.17 ERA and struck out 49 batters in 41 innings for the Tartan Pride. Matt will be joining Joe Ford and many other former Tartan Pride players to move on to Wright State University for continuation of their baseball and academic careers. During our interview Kruzel stated that the reason he chose WSU was due to the amount of interest WSU showed in him at Perrysburg High School and at Sinclair. He also is a big fan of the WSU baseball team and the coaching staff. Kruzel looks forward to reuniting with former Tartan Joe Ford of whom he considers to be a great competitor and friend. He also added that he'll miss the Sinclair coaching staff and his teammates that he has enjoyed hanging out with on and off the field. Lastly, Matt will also dearly miss ordering wraps from the Sinclair cafeteria.
