OCCAC Announces Player of the Week Selections (March 9-22)

The OCCAC baseball and softball seasons have started, and thus the conference has begun player of the week and pitcher of the week awards.

For the week of March 16-22, Ben Szymczak (Cuyahoga) and Robbie Bekier (Owens) earned player and pitcher of the week honors in baseball, while Kelly Wood (Sinclair) and Haleigh Perry (Sinclair) earned player and pitcher of the week honors in softball.

Szymczak went 9-for-17 last week with nine runs, three doubles, one triple and six RBIs, while Bekier tossed a nine inning complete game victory over Grand Rapids, while allowing only six hits and one run (zero earned) with nine strikeouts.

Wood hit 17-for-25 with 10 runs, five doubles, two triples, three home runs and 18 RBIs last week, while Perry went 5-0 while allowing 26 hits, four runs (three earned) and zero walks with 22 strikeouts over 25.1 innings.

For the week of March 9-15, Brittany George (Owens) and Lesley Ducat (Owens) earned player and pitcher of the week honors, while Mitch Asman (Sinclair) and Alec Turner (Sinclair) earned pitcher and player of the week honors in baseball.
