OCCAC Announces Postseason Basketball Awards

The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) has announced postseason basketball awards, including major awards and all-conference teams.
In men's basketball, sophomore guard Mike Davis from Lakeland Community College was voted the league's MVP. He finished second in the league in scoring at 21.8 PPG while shooting 53 percent from the field and 36.5 percent from 3-point range. John Murry (Owens) and Robert Fomby (Cuyahoga) finished second and third in MVP voting.
Overall, the student-athletes making first-team in men's basketball were: Mike Davis (Lakeland), John Murry (Owens), Robert Fomby (Cuyahoga), Montell Goodwin (Lakeland), Westley Parr (Sinclair) and Grover Anderson (Cincinnati State).
Second team recipients are: Marvin Coleman (Lorain County), Kenny Jones (Owens), Manny Powell Jr. (Sinclair), James Kilpatrick (Cincinnati State), Matt Rhodes (Columbus State) and Cristen Wilson (Lakeland).
Honorable mention selections are: Cairo Brown (Cuyahoga), Darren Groves (Owens), Malik Thurman (Edison), Brandon Lawler (Lorain County), Marquis Jackson (Cuyahoga), Davion Ashe (Cincinnati State), Pete Firlik (Owens), Marcellous Washington (Sinclair), Kenneth Evans (Lakeland), Robert Caldwell (Columbus State).
Fomby led the league in rebounding at 12.9 RPG, Shaakir Lindsey (Owens) led the league in assists at 6.8 APG, Goodwin led the league in steals at 3.2 SPG and Jalen Robertson of Sinclair led the league in blocks at 1.9 BPG.
Lakeland Community College and Owens Community College shared the 2014-15 OCCAC championship. Lakeland finished the regular season 22-6 overall and 12-2 in OCCAC play, while Owens finished 24-6 overall and 12-2 in OCCAC play.
Lakeland head men's basketball coach Terry Bowe was named the league's Coach of the Year.
In women's basketball, Sierra Harley, a freshman guard from Owens Community College, was voted the league's MVP. She finished third in the league in scoring (15.6 PPG), tied for 10th in the league in rebounding (7.1 RPG), second in assists (6.2 APG) and second in steals (3.3 SPG). She also finished fifth in assist/turnover ratio at 2.2. Bridget Geiger (Columbus State) and Jonessa Moore (Cincinnati State) finished second and third in MVP voting.
Harley and her Owens teammates finished the conference regular season with a perfect record. Due to that, head coach Mike Llanas earned OCCAC Coach of the Year honors.
Overall, first-team selections in women's basketball are: Sierra Harley (Owens), Jonessa Moore (Cincinnati State), Bridget Geiger (Columbus State), Brooke Dunlevy (Edison), Ashley Tunstall (Owens) and Nicole Upsaw (Lakeland).
Second team selections are: O'Sha Owens (Sinclair), Erinn Bailey (Columbus State), Samia Carter (Cincinnati State), Courizma Williams (Owens) and Jada Jackson (Cincinnati State).
Honorable mention selections: Keri Hill (Cuyahoga), Breanna Ball (Sinclair), Mercedes Hobbs (Lakeland), Destini Turner (Cuyahoga), Demy Whitaker (Owens), Paige Lewis (Columbus State), Molly Walsh (Lakeland), Aaliyah Wise (Edison), Kasia Cicha (Cincinnati State) and Mikaela Oyer (Edison).
Dunlevy led the league in scoring at 25.2 PPG, Wise led the league in rebounding at 11.1 RPG, Carter led the league in assists and steals at 8.2 APG and 4.5 SPG, and Jaslynn Rollins (Columbus State), led the team in blocks at 1.7 BPG.
Owens Community College won the 2014-15 OCCAC title with a 29-1 overall record and a 14-0 record in conference play.
