Spring Weather Brings Five Spring Honors This Week

Five student-athletes received recognition from the OCCAC for their efforts on the ball field. Logan Wunderle (Bryant & Stratton) and Louis Lipthratt (Clark State) were tabbed as Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, while Casey McHugh (Lakeland) and Hannah Owens (Owens) split the Softball Player of Week nod, and Bailey Cravens (Lakeland) reeled in her second straight Pitcher of the Week accolade.

LOGAN WUNDERLE – baseball player of the week
Bryant & Stratton College (OH)
Wunderle lifted the Bobcats to a doubleheader sweep over Lakeland, driving in three runs and slugging a cool 1.000 for the week. He went 3-7 (.429), drew a walk and scored three runs in addition to a pair of extra-base hits (double, homerun).

LOUIS LIPTHRATT – baseball pitcher of the week
Clark State Community College
Lipthratt flung a 7-inning complete game shoutout in Game 1 versus Lakeland. He offered up just one hit and one walk while sitting down 10 batters via the strikeout.

CASEY MCHUGH – co-softball player of the week
Lakeland Community College
McHugh did it all that dish, raking two homeruns, two triples and two doubles en route to a .533 (8-15) weekly batting average. She was directly responsible for a whopping 15 runs during the Lakers’ 4-0 week, scoring 10 and driving in five more. McHugh hit for the cycle in a 14-0 victory over Bryant & Stratton (OH).

HANNAH OWENS – co-softball player of the week
Owens Community College
Owens was stupendous in a doubleheader sweep of Sienna Heights. She went 5-for-7 (.714) with eight RBI, three doubles and a homerun. It wasn’t just any homerun either, it was a game-tying grand slam in the bottom of the 7th.

BAILEY CRAVENS – softball pitcher of the week
Lakeland Community College
Cravens is back again, winning her second consecutive OCCAC Pitcher of the Week honor. She pitched in three of four games, including two winning starts. Cravens totaled 13 innings for the week and allowed a lone earned run (six total runs) to come across. She registered a 12:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
