Clark State Community College Baseball surged to a 4-0 start this season, sending away Ancilla College with four losses in-hand. The Eagles earned a pair of 1-run wins while widening the gap by a combined 16 runs in the other two victorious outings. The four-game series sweep caught the attention of the league office, resulting in Ben Scartz and Jacob Savina being named the OCCAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Scartz began the ’21 campaign with at least one hit in all four games and multiple base knocks thrice. The middle infielder drove in eight runs while scoring four himself. His .615 (8-13) batting average came with a little pop as well, connecting for a homerun and a double (.923 slugging percentage).

Savina toed the rubber for the series finale, saving the best for last. He pitched a 7-inning complete game, scattering five hits and a walk for just two runs. Savina fanned a half dozen batters in the 3-2 Eagles win.
