No-hitter Pair Highlights Week 9 Award Winners
Two truncated no-hitters from Bailey Cravens (Lakeland) and Zayvier Beachy (Owens) resulted in OCCAC Pitcher of the Week honors for their 5-inning outings. Olivia Place (Edison State) and Ben Scartz (Clark State) rounded out the April 18-24 honorees thanks to offensive outbursts from each.

OLIVIA PLACE | Softball (Position) Player of the Week
Edison State Community College
Place went on an absolute tear during the Chargers’ six consecutive wins last week. She went 15-for-21 (.714) with three doubles, nine RBI and 10 runs scored. The freshman second baseman recorded multiple hits in all six contests, and registered both multiple runs and RBI in four of six games with at least one run in each.

Clark State College
Scartz earns his second weekly honor of the season and third of his career after going 11-for-18 (.611) with four doubles, a triple, homerun and nine RBI in five games for the Eagles. He totaled nine runs, touching home two or more times in four of five games. The sophomore shortstop slugged at a 1.111 rate.
BAILEY CRAVENS | Softball Pitcher of the Week
Lakeland Community College
Cravens picked up two wins in as many appearances during a 6-0 week for the Lakers. She started with a 5-inning no-hitter versus Bryant & Stratton (OH), allowing a lone baserunner (walk). Cravens came back later in the series to deliver four innings of relief and earn win #2 in Lakeland’s 5-2 victory. For the week, she surrendered a lone run on three hits and a walk while striking out five batters in nine total innings.
ZAYVIER BEACHY | Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Owens Community College
Beachy tossed a 5-inning no-hitter in a run rule shortened tilt against Lorain County. He struck out four Commodores while allowing one unearned run to come across after a defensive blunder behind him.
