Lofty Numbers Posted by OCCAC Players of the Week

The Edison State pair of Audra Schaub and Lamine Komara are bringing D-II OCCAC weekly accolades back to campus while Shyah Wheeler (Owens) and Elijah Bishop (Columbus State) earned D-III Player of the Week honors for Dec. 2-9.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Edison State pair of Audra Schaub and Lamine Komara are bringing D-II OCCAC weekly accolades back to campus while Shyah Wheeler (Owens) and Elijah Bishop (Columbus State) earned D-III Player of the Week honors for Dec. 2-8.

AUDRA SCHAUB
Edison State Community College | D-II Women’s Player of the Week
Schaub lifted the Chargers to a pair of road conference wins, averaging 14.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game while committing just two turnovers. She shot 57% (12-21) from the floor and knocked down 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Schaub is the third different member of the 16th-ranked Edison State women’s basketball team to earn the award this season.

SHYAH WHEELER
Owens Community College | D-III Women’s Player of the Week
Wheeler nearly outscored the opposition single-handedly, exploding for a school-record 44 points in a 95-49 Owens win over Mercyhurst North East. She nailed 17 field goal attempts and nine more shots from the charity stripe to go along with 15 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals. Wheeler was stellar in a win earlier in the week as well, gathering 17 boards with 14 points, eight assists, four steals and a block in a 101-49 OCCAC win over Bryant & Stratton (OH).

Wheeler is now a two-time recipient, picking up OCCAC Player of the Week laurels on Nov. 19, 2018.

LAMINE KOMARA
Edison State Community College | D-II Men’s Player of the Week
Komara drilled 23-of-35 (66%) field goal attempts, including 4-of-9 from long range, en route to a 26.5 points per game average. He added 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists to the weekly stat line. This represents back-to-back winners for Edison State men’s basketball.

ELIJAH BISHOP
Columbus State Community College | D-III Men’s Player of the Week
Bishop was superb in the Cougars’ lone contest last week, an 88-72 league win on the road at Cuyahoga. He stuffed a 25-point, 12-rebound double-double into 30 minutes of action, tacking on three assists, a steal and block. Bishop knocked down 11-of-22 (50%) shots to snag Columbus State’s second straight weekly honor.
