Owens Tandem Hauls in Weekly Honor

Express Basketball swept the OCCAC Player of the Week accolades for Dec 6-12, 2022. Tommy Moreno is the men’s honoree while Cierra Harris brought it home on the women’s side.

Moreno had season-highs in points (27) and rebounds (10) while shooting 11-for-21 from the field, including 2-for-3 from long distance and 3-for-3 from the foul line in the team’s lone game of the week. He was one of just five Owens players dressed, a number that dropped to four by game’s end because of an injury. Moreno logged all 40 minutes in the gutty performance.

Harris did it all in averaging 12.3 rebounds, 10.8 points, 4.0 assists, 3.3 blocks and 2.3 steals per game over just 27 minutes per contest while leading top-ranked Owens to three straight victories over NJCAA D-II teams. A win over Schoolcraft College avenged The Express’ only loss this season. Harris posted a pair of double-doubles.
