Week 2’s Basketball Players of the Week

Dennis Pettis, Jr. (Lorain County) and Abby Yukon (Edison State) are the OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week for Nov. 4-10. Yukon, a sophomore, is now a two-time honoree after also earning the accolade on Dec. 25, 2023 as a freshman.

Pettis stuffed the stat sheet with per game averages of 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocks. He sank a half dozen field goals in each of two games for the Commodores while swiping three or more steals in both. Pettis gave Sandhills all they could handle with 22 points, six boards, four blocks and three steals.

Yukon was a highly efficient scorer, netting 36 points in just 47 minutes played during a pair of lopsided Charger victories. The sophomore guard converted on 14-of-24 (58%) field goal attempts, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. She added eight rebounds, five steals and three assists while committing a lone turnover.
