Despite being out-hit 10-6, the Tiffin Dragons downed the Tartan Pride 6-5 in game one of a doubleheader at the newly turfed Nischwitz Field at Wright State University. After being held in check for the first two innings, the Tiffin offense exploded in the third inning scoring three runs and knocking Pride starter Zac Edwards out of the game. Sinclair responded in the bottom half of the third inning when Paul Wilson grounded into a double play which scored Matt Sullivan shrinking Tiffin's lead to 3-1. In the top half of the fourth inning, Tiffin again put runs on the board. The Dragons tacked on two more runs and another in the fifth to make the score 6-1. The Pride offense attempted a comeback in the bottom half of the sixth inning with RBI singles by Darwin Argumedo and Austin Downing, making the score 6-5. Although it was a valiant effort, the offensive outburst by Sinclair in the bottom half of the sixth was not enough to beat Tiffin as the final out was recorded in the seventh.

The Pride offense came alive in the top half of the second inning when three runs came across with a bases loaded walk by AJ Kruzel and a two out single by Paul Wilson which plated two runs for Sinclair. Three runs proved to be enough for the win, thanks to dominating pitching performances from the Tartan pitchers. Pride starter Tyler Sexton went four frames while striking out four Tiffin batters and surrendering just one lone run. Tartan sophomore southpaw Matt Kruzel was also brilliant in his three innings of relief of Sexton, giving up one hit, walking two and striking out eight.
