Denny Caldwell is in his eighth season as assistant coach for the Owens women's volleyball program.

In 2014, Caldwell helped guide Owens to a 34-11 overall record and a 12-2 mark (2nd Place) in the OCCAC. The team advanced to the Region XII District E loser's bracket finals before falling to No. 6 Columbus State.

Following the season, four players earned All-OCCAC honors, two earned All-Region XII honors and sophomore libero Ciarra Wirick was named an NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American.

In his seven seasons with Owens, the program has totaled a 251-92 record, four OCCAC championships and two Region XII District E Championships. In 2010 and 2012, the team qualified for the NJCAA D-II National Tournament, where they finished fourth in the nation in 2012. It was the best finish in program history at the D-II level.

From 2010-12, Caldwell helped guide the Express to a 124-25 record overall and a 35-1 record in OCCAC play.

His coaching experience includes previously serving as the boys head volleyball coach at Springfield High School from 1990-93. Additionally, Caldwell served as men's head volleyball coach at the University of Toledo from 1990-91 and at Bowling Green State University from 1974-75. The Columbus North High School graduate also was the women's head volleyball coach at Eastern Michigan University in 1976.

Caldwell earned his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from The Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, he was a member of the school's volleyball program where he earned the team's Most Improved Player Award and Ohio Valley Regional All Star honors.

Moreover, Caldwell's volleyball experience includes previously serving as team captain for the USA Senior National Volleyball Team. In 2008, he received a bronze medal in the USAV National Championships Men's 55 and was a member of the Continental Cup Champions (USA vs. Canada) in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Caldwell has also received a master's degree in health and physical education from Bowling Green State University. He currently resides in Monroe, Mich.
