The Lakeland Community College athletic department has hired Jake Gordon as assistant athletic director of Laker athletics.
At Lakeland, Gordon will assist athletic director Scott Barlow with the day-to-day operations of the athletic department and the Athletic and Fitness Center. Gordon's responsibilities will include promoting all seven sports at Lakeland and will oversee the academic retention program for student athletes.
"I am excited to start at Lakeland and help the student athletes achieve their goals academically and athletically with the goal of helping them move on to a four-year institution and complete their education," Gordon said.
Gordon comes to Lakeland following a nearly three-year stint as sports information director at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas.
While at Blinn, Gordon promoted an NJCAA Division I program that won the volleyball national championship in 2014 and four national titles for cheer and dance. During his tenure, Gordon helped promote trips to the national tournament by the volleyball, women's basketball and softball teams at Blinn.
Gordon is a native of Tooele, Utah, and received his bachelor's in mass communication from the University of Utah. He is currently working on his master's degree in sports administration from Saint Leo University.
