Men's Basketball
The Columbus State Community College is the number one team in this week's NJCAA Division II Basketball Poll. They moved up one spot to grab the top spot in the final poll of the season. The Cougars, 24-2 overall and 11-1 in the OCCAC, clinched the conference championship last night with a 91-66 win over Sinclair Community College. The Cougars are led by Greg Rice who averages 19.1 points per game and 3.6 assists per game. Greg LeSage is another leader of team averaging 14.2 ppg, 8.1 rebound per game while Brandon Beasley averages 13.7 ppg, 7.5 rpg. Rayshawn Goins averages 13.1 ppg, 7.8 rpg and Jerrell Sanders averages 10.1 ppg. Kendal Holt averages 6.6 apg. Congratulations to Coach Carlisle and the Cougars.

Men's and Women's Basketball
Darling and Anderson earn OCCAC Player of the Week honors
Mark Anderson of Sinclair Community College and Brittany Darling of Owens Community College have been named OCCAC Players for the Week. Anderson, a 6-7 Sophomore from Dayton, OH, averaged 31.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Hes shot 35 of 63 (55.6%) from the floor, five of 18 (27.8 %) from the arc and 19 of 23 (82.6 %) from the free throw line. Mark scored 39 points against Cincinnati State Technical & Community College and 41 against Lorian County Community College. He also had five blocks in three games last week.
Darling, a 6-5, center from Genoa, OH, scored 46 points and grabed 33 rebounds in three games last week. She had seven blocks, three assists and one steal. She shot 19 of 32 (59.4 %) from the floor and 8 of 16 (50 %) from the charity stripe.
The OCCAC would like to congratulate both players on the honor.

The Columbus State Community College men's basketball team moved up one spot to number two in this week's NJCAA Division II National Basketball Poll. The Cougars are 21-2 overall and 8-1 in the OCCAC. Last season, National runners-up are led by Greg Rice who averages 19.1 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game. Greg LeSage averages 14.2 ppg, 8.1 rpg, while Brandon Beasley averages 13.8 ppg, 7.5 rpg. Rayshawn Goins averages 13.1 ppg, 7.8 rpg, while Jerrell Sanders averages 10.1 ppg, 5.7 rpg. Kendall Holt averages 6.6 asissts per game. Columbus State CC is the only OCCAC school in this week's rankings.

Men's and Women's Basketball
Rice and White earn OCCAC Player of the Week honors
Greg Rice of Columbus State Community College and Amanda White of Sinclair Community College are the Men's and Women's OCCAC Players of the Week.
Rice, a 6-3, Wing from Covington, KY, averaged 20.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in 3 games this week. He also had one block in the three Cougar wins. He was 24 of 47 from the floor (51.1 pct), three of eight from the arc (37.5 pct) and 10 of 15 (66.7 pct) from the free throw line.
White, a 5-10 guard/forward from Vandalia, OH, average 26.5 points, 7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1 steal in two games. She shot 23 of 35 from the floor (65.7 pct), four of four (100 pct) from three point and three of five (60 pct) from the charity stripe.
Amanda scored 23 points against Edison going 10/16 from the florr including 3/3 from the 3 point line. She scored 30 points against Cuyahoga going 13/19 from the floor and also adding 11 rebounds. "Amanda had a great shooting week, shooting 65.7 percent from the floor and averaging 26.5 points. She also is a good rebounder for us and had a double-double in our game against Cuyahoga.", said assistant coach Rochelle Meinking.

The Cougars, who are 20-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play. They are led by Greg Rice, who averaged 18.8 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game, 3.6 apg. Greg LeSage averages 14.6 ppg, 8.3 rpg, while Brandon Beasley averages 13.7 ppg, 7.4 rpg. Rayshawn Goins averages 13.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg, and Jerrell Sanders averages 10.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg. Kendal Holt averages 6.8 assists per game.
Lakeland Community College is in the other receiving votes catagory. The Lakers are 13-10 overall and 6-1 in the OCCAC. They are led by Nate Barnes who averages 23.2 ppg, 4.0 apg, while Khari Riley averages 13.6 ppg and 7.9 rpg. Louis Hinson averages 12.3 ppg, while Charles Osby averages 10.0 ppg and 3.2 apg. Klein Harper averages 8.4 rpg.


Wednesday, February 11
Women's Basketball
The Cincinnati State Technical & Community College women's basketball moved up one spot to number three in this week NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Poll. The Surge 20-3 overall and 9-0 in the OCCAC are led by Heather Hassloch who averages 19.8 points per game and 10.6 rebounds per game. Ashley Huddleston averages 17.2 ppg, 4.0 assists per game, while Tamara Sneed averages 13.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg and 4.3 apg. Tiersa Fernandes averages 12.6 ppg, 4.4 apg, Na'Tasha Farr averages 7.5 rpg.
Lakeland Community College is listed in the others recieving votes category. The Lakers are 16-8 overall and 4-2 in the OCCAC. They are led by Shyla Jones with 12.6 ppg, 11.1 rpg, while Aslea Williams with 12.1 ppg, 9.5 rpg. Danielle Lewis averages 11.2 ppg.

Men's and Women's Basketball
England and Lowe earn OCCAC Player of the Week honors
Elise England of Columbus State Community College and Keith Lowe of Edison Community College are the OCCAC Women's and Men's Basketball Players of the Week.
England, a 6-0 Freshman, scored 24 points and grab 12 rebounds in the Cougars only game last week. She also had 2 assists and nine blocks. "Elise played exceptionally well in Columbus State's win over Sinclair. She was a blocked shot away from a triple double with 24 points on eight of 23 field goals, 12 rebounds and nine blocked shots. She is also an outstanding student, recording a 3.93 GPA during the fall.", said Head Coach Randy Crites. Elise currently has 79 points (15.8 ppg), recording 27/64 field goals and 25/33 free throw. She also has 64 rebounds, nine assists, 12 steals and 27 blocks.
Keith Lowe, a 6-2 freshman, had 77 points, 18 rebounds, nine assists and four steals. He shot 23 of 48 field goals, four of 11 from the three point arc and 25 of 41 from the free throw line. "He is an outstaning scorer, passer and rebounder. Excellent team player and attitude.", said Head Coach Dave Zeller.

Women's Basketball
Cincinnati State Technical & Community College held on to the number four ranking for the sixth straight week in the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Poll. The Surge are 17-3 overall and 6-0 overall in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference and have won nine in a row coming into Wednesday nights contest at Edison Community College. They are led by Heather Hassloch who averages 20.3 points per game, 11.1 rebounds per game, while Ashley Huddleston averages 17.3 ppg and 4.0 assists per game. Tamara Sneed averages 12.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg and 3.9 apg and Tiersa Fernandez is at 11.5 ppg and 4.1 apg. Na'Taha Farr averages 7.6 rpg.
Edison Community College is the only OCCAC team in the other recieving votes catagory. The Chargers are 16-2 overall and 3-1 coming into tonight's game. Edison is led by Gail Hartings who averages 17.9 points per game and7.5 rebounds per game. Jodi Benznzer averages 11.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 3.2 assists per game, while Rachel Striebich averages 10.8 ppg, 12.1 rpg. Marie Hoying averages 2.2 apg and Amy Spitler averages 2.0 apg.

The Cougars are 16-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference coming into tonight's contest with Sinclair Community College. They are led by Greg Rice, who averages 19.5 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game. Greg LeSage averages 14.6 ppg. 8.2 rpg and Rayshawn Goins with 13.8 ppg, 7.2 rpg. Brandon Beasley averages 13.5 ppg, 7.2 rpg, while Jerrell Sanders averages 10.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg. Kendal Holt is the Cougars assist leader with 6.8 per game, while Rice average 3.7 per game.

Men's and Women's Basketball
Body and Hartings earn OCCAC Player of the Week honors
Le'Donte Body of Cincinnati State Technical & Community College and Gail Hartings of Edison Community College have been named this week's OCCAC Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week.
Hartings, a 5-10 sophomore, scored at carrer high 34 points against Owens Community College. She averaged 23 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal and had one block in two games this week. Gail shot 16-23 from the field (69.6%) and 14-18 (77.8%) from the free throw line, as Edison went 2-0 on the week.
"Gail was very instrumental in securing our win versus Owens. This was her best offensive performance of her career. She took a charge and had several key rebounds down the stetch.", said Assistant Coach Brad Allen.
Body, a 6-3 freshman, helped the Surge win three games in four days. He averaged 18.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.3 steals per game. Le'Donte had 40 points versus Cuyahoga Community College on Saturday. He shot 20-43 (46.5 %) from the floor, 7 of 17 (41.2 %) from the arc and 9-11 (81.8%) from the free throw line.
